Testimonials
We had an issue with our site so I called at almost 10PM thinking I'd leave a message and hopefully have it fixed the next day. Instead I got a live person and the problem was solved within minutes.

The Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library now has a home and it promises to be more than just a granfalloon.

Documents can now be shared
Posted 07/01/2009 — by Skip Evans
(Latest Updates)
Sites within the same family can export and import categories so that documents are available on multiple sites.

This functions much the way news story categories are also shared between sites in the same family.

Look for more content sharing mechanisms coming soon.

Posted 06/08/2009 — by Skip Evans
(Latest Updates)
Create volunteer categories that can be selected by new site members, or by existing members when updating their accounts.

We've also added a module for managing performances by theaters and other performance venues. Patrons can make reservations as well.

Document gategories restricted by groups
Posted 05/07/2009 — by Skip Evans
(Latest Updates)
You may now restrict document categories to specific groups, limiting access to only those site members you wish to have access to them.

When document categories are created or edited, you can set the group level access with a simple drop down.

For example, a document category limited to board members will only be visible to board members, or site members with high level access, when they are logged in

Sponsors and advertising module implemented
Posted 05/04/2009 — by Skip Evans
(Latest Updates)
Offset the cost of your PenguinSites system with corporate sponsors or advertising. The system will track how many times a sponsor's image is viewed, and how many times their link is clicked.

You can even turn your system into a revenue source by recruiting as many sponsors or advertisers as you like!

Events now can be group specific
Posted 05/02/2009 — by Skip Evans
(Latest Updates)
Now when the site administrator adds an event to the calendar the event can be limited to specific groups, must like custom pages and other content.

For example, perhaps the board is holding a retreat, an event that doesn't need to take up space on the public view of the calendar.

The site administrator, when adding this event, simply selected 'Board' from a drop down of the system's groups, and only board members, when logged into the system, will see this event on the calendar.

Sites can now be grouped into "families"

(Latest Updates)
The true ultimate power of PenguinSites is realized when the system is installed on a dedicated server for a client, allowing maximum and unlimited customization to the core code base.

This way, the system becomes exactly what the client wants, and performs all the tasks the client needs, but it does require a threshold number of sites installed, and that is typically around 100 web sites.  (More)

Events can be either free or paid, and payments methods include PayPal or custom credit card gateway processing.

Problem replacing documents fixed
Posted 02/05/2009 — by Skip Evans
(Bug Fixes)
A problem uploading new documents over existing documents has been fixed.

This was a configuration issue on the server and not a problem with the code so it was a bit difficult to track down, but the supreme penguin found the problem and fixed it.

He has been given a bucket of herring for excellent work.

Error on site pages delete fixed
Posted 02/01/2009 — by Skip Evans
(Bug Fixes)
A minor bug prevented site pages to be properly redisplayed after a delete.

The delete was completed, but the remaining site pages did not display properly.

This has been fixed.
